Picture this

This is absolutely fascinating. I've always wanted to do something like that--something that sort of captures my life so far. As a kid I started collecting pennies from each year I was alive, inspired by the book The Hundred Penny Box, but I stopped when I was about 14. I still think that's a great idea--maybe I'll go on a penny hunt this weekend--but I stumbled across this story of Jamie Livingston and I'm feeling inspired.

I like taking photos but I only do it when the mood strikes, which isn't very often. And on those somewhat rare occasions I'll take about 100 pictures only to delete most of them because they were too blurry, too dark, or were otherwise flawed. Taking one picture each day, no matter how good or bad, strikes me as being so much more true to life. And much more interesting.

I don't really do New Year's resolutions because I never stick with them , but maybe I'll try something different this year. In the spirit of the New Year, I will make it my goal to take at least one picture each day, starting with this one:

No explanation and not necessarily something amazing, but it'll be fascinating to see what I end up with at the end of this year, not to mention in 20 years!
